Atlantis Dreaming

I spent a really long time searching for inspiration beyond the normal and typical "add spikes, throw on black, look mad" typical look...that I usually do...like...errryday:)

That being said, I had this ridiculously stuffed folder on my laptop with lists and lists of runway shows, music videos, and pictures that I look to as starting points....an within the folder is a beastly section dedicated to McQueen, Lana Del Rey, Dali, and Gwen Stefani....and of course Kanye but lets not get into that...he played no influential role in this outcome:) 

I'm beyond obsessed with the 2010 show by McQueen "Plato's Atlantis" I watch it when I get creatively drained and need energy in terms of my work...it's basically like when you are an artist and you think you are all that and a bag of chips, but then you go to a gallery opening and the work blows your shit out of the water and kicks you into high gear. This show just as that effect on me completely. 

It's so good that it causes you to look beyond what your initial boundaries. So, in essence, I've been just drooling over this show since it came out and decided to pull filter colors and the whole Atlantis vibe but more modern...meaning..like...in my pool :)

Combined with influence from Lana Del Rey's video "Blue Jeans" I had hoped to get both a artistic and sultry set of photos....half being very reflective of oceanic life and half a retro vibe. BUT!!! I wanted it to include a faint feeling of drowning and social suffocation...so hence...skeletal ribs swimsuits and whirlpool effects....

THIS IS ONE FRIGGIN FRAGGIN LONG EXPLANATION BUT THAT'S HOW MY NOGGIN WORKS!!!

My thought process is a bit of a haute mess but the outcome is always pretty lovely :)

The videos that served as visual inspo I will post for you right undaaaaa this babbling post of nonsense...and I recommend just watching because then...you will see....I'm not completely crazy :)
Crazy in the sense that I had to swallow insane amounts of chlorinated water for money shots...but that just comes with the territory:)

and yeah, I post this one like a million times a year because it just rocks my socks... WATCH THE WHOLE THING!!!
